From my young age, I have always been attracted by maps. The endless opportunities to visit these places and sites have fascinated me. In my schooling, I used to study my Atlas while having breakfast every morning, choosing out places I wanted to explore when I was older. Growing up I was fortunate to travel around with my family, which led to my quest to visit some places in Telangana. I didn’t travel all over India as a kid, but I got a taste for it to travel. However, I didn’t truly feel the impact of it until I left for the North trip at the age of 20. Experiencing a completely new culture had an everlasting impact on me. From then on, I was addicted to travel and it changed my life.
There are countless ways of traveling which changed me but, these stands out
and have shaped me into the person I am today.
My Self Confidence grew:
Travelling drove me into the deep end of everything without having the chance to overthink and I was forced to move away from being bashful. Over my past traveling trips I’ve constantly been put in situations where I had to communicate in the other language. I soon realized that there is no reason to be afraid of the unknown because it only allows you to grow. I noticed that I could be whoever I wanted because people don’t have any ideas of me and most importantly, I realized I could be myself and be happy by just being me.
Not getting bored anymore:
Travel has taught me that there is so much to explore in this world. I can’t even comprehend how anyone could ever be bored. Go for a walk, learn a language, go for a meal, explore places related to nature, practice yoga, listen to music, learn a new skill. There’s no end of things to do, see, and learn. Find something you’re excited about.

I became Independent:
One of the things that scared me about traveling alone was the thought of suddenly having to work on my own. I didn’t know how to do it in the starting stages. But like most things, I solved it out. It took a few moons, but I finally grew to enjoy my newfound freedom. I made my own choices, and I based them completely on what I wanted. If I wanted to ride all day I could do so. If I wanted to spend all day Trekking, I could do that too.
I eventually felt like I could run in this world.

Getting out of my Comfort zone:
My comfort zone used to be very small. If I had to give a presentation at college, I’d pretend to be sick. If there was a party, I didn’t want to go to. In short, if something frightened me, I’d run away. And now the difference is, I appreciate the benefits of forcing myself outside of it regularly. When you have a little life experience as I did, everything was a new experience. Exploring a village on my own, eating a dish that didn’t consist of salt and pepper, talking to strangers, etc. Now, I seek out new possibilities and adventures. I want to push myself. I want to explore more and that is only possible when I came out of my comfort zone.
I became a Foodie:
I always ate the standard three meals a day because that is what you are taught to do while growing up. But I never realized, how much you can enjoy different kinds of food. I tried many local foods and they all opened me up to discovering local cultures, beliefs, and ways of living. I got to experience a whole variety of different foods, not only opening my pallet but opening my mind to the different world we live in.
I discovered what makes me Happy:
The world is an extensive place and there should be no limit to what can make you happy. If you as a person are unhappy or want to change directions in life, then one thing I can tell u is please do it. I found what made me comfortable and what type of personalities bring out the best in me. I was not only shown the difficulties of how people live, but how some people are so utterly thankful for such simple things. I did find myself through travel. I have become the person I’ve always wanted to be.
